Nicole Ari Parker is an American stage and television actress who is known for her role as the fiery lawyer Teri Joseph on the Showtime series Soul Food. When she got married, she changed her name to Nikki Kodjoe. She was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland she showed an interest in acting from childhood and received the Best Actress award in a Maryland high-school competition. She earned her acting degree at New York University after working for 'The Washington Ballet Company' as well as performing in the theatre. There was a lot of praise for her debut large role as a character in The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love. The film was followed by films like 'Boogie Nights Spark' as well as Blue Streak. Her appearance on the television series Soul Food' was immensely well-received. Her appearances were in TV shows like Second Time Around, and Empire. Prior to that she was a part of numerous stage productions. Parker who has a keen interest in politics, is married with actor/model Boris Kodjoe. Two children were born to them.
Contractor who was born in Mumbai and who was a resident of Nigeria since she was just seven years old. She was well-versed in world cultures and traveling at such a young stage. After attending boarding schools during seven years of London Her family then moved to Toronto Canada where she spent the majority of her childhood and early adulthood. Contractor was an outstanding scholar in Toronto and trained as the classical ballet dancer. She attended the Etobicoke School of the Arts which was a highly specialized high school that taught not just dance but also theatre. Contractor was dancing for more than 10 years when she started and decided to concentrate on acting. When she graduated from high school she was awarded a full grant to attend at the University of Toronto, where she earned a master's degree in theatre and a double major in psychology and sociology. After a single year at University, Contractor went to an open call audition for the play Pericles at the world-class, world-renowned Stratford Shakespeare Festival [Ontario, Canada and landed the leading role. The production she appeared in were praised by Canadian reviewers. The actress accepted an invitation to enroll in Stratford's conservatory. It is a place that allows only four males and eight women are able to take a 20 weeks crash course of classical theater. Contractor received a guaranteed spot in the next season of shows and eventually landed the role of Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
